It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon, the perfect day for a parade. Our neighboring town Keyport made the day green with their annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Our area boasts a large Irish and Italian population, so one would expect nothing less than a parade to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.
We decided to cover the parade this year, our first one in the 43 years living in Hazlet and we were glad we did.
The parade’s staging began at 11:30 at the St. Joseph’s Church parking lot. Passed over the Highway 35 overpass and down Maple Place then left on Broad St. and another left on to Broad St. by McDonagh’s Pub and ends at Fireman’s Park right before the Keyport Fishery.
We were able to get on the streets a bit after the parade began, but was able to video the parade and take some great shots of the participants and attendees. Neighboring towns participated with their Fire, EMT and Police vehicles in attendance.
We even found our two new Hazlet News correspondents that you will meet in our video…Caitie Henar and Makayla Miller who helps us out in our video.
