It was the last day of April and a beautiful day to join thousands of dog lovers at the Monmouth County SPCA Dog Walk and Pet Fair. My wife and I and our little boy Georgie once again joined all dog lovers at this yearly Spring event dedicated to the loving, loyal and beautiful members of our families…our dogs. Held once again at the beautiful campus of Brookdale Community College we signed in, Georgie received his official green Dog Walk bandana and off we went to see all the great participants and vendors at the event.
We even had an opportunity to meet a number of our Hazlet News readers and Facebook Group members too including Lauren Anderson , Jennifer Cook, and Craig and Kris Boehler who manufactures and sells great sport team themed wall mountable bottle openers with cap catch. Very cool indeed and all hand made by Kris. His company is C-Saw Wood Crafters and you can contact him on Facebook or email him for more information.
Our little Georgie is a puppy mill dog that is a Chihuahua/Spaniel mix that is simply the most loving, loyal and smart little boy. He is eight years old now and has added so much to our lives that we could never understand why we didn’t have dogs in our lives all these years. My wife was a cat lover so we had at least 20 cats over the past 40 years living in Hazlet. Now cats are of course wonderful too, but until you have a loving dog, you don’t realize that dogs do rule.
After the Dog Walk, we went to Thompson Park, to let Georgie run off leash in their dog area for small dogs and then to a Craft and Music Festival they were having that same day. Not a huge Festival, but was a nice day to browse through some of the local artisans works and listen to some music while having a picnic lunch.
